I am sorry but not many users on this forum speak French. Also your problem has not given us a lot of information. It seems like RH9 is crashing when you try to generate your output. Is this correct? If so can you tell us:

• What your output type is.
• Whether the problem is only with one project - try generating one of the supplied test projects.
• Whether your project did generate before - if so please give us an idea of what has changed in the meantime.
• Where you are generating to and whether your project is on a local drive. BTW it should be!

Thank you for the speed of your answer and sorry for writing in French but my english is very bad.

- output : webhelp

- the problem is only with one project (in fact, I have only one project) but I create a small one with only 2 files and it works

- I had the problem once, when I began to work with Robohelp 9. I deleted a lot of files to try to to solve the problem... It works but it was not a good solution because I needed 4 days to repair the links. So, I prefer now have the opinion of a specialist

- the last time I tried to generate the project was yesterday (testing week). The project is on a local drive but I generate an output on a web server (only used in the company)

Added notes :

- I use Robohelp 9

- I can't leave Robohelp either

- at the beginning, the project was a forehelp project (.hlp)

Don't worry. Your English is a lot better than my French and I don't want to have to depend on Google Translate 🙂

I am still not 100% clear what the issue is. Is it that the project won't generate - i.e you get an error? If so, what is the error? Or is it that it does generate but that the results are not what you expect?

Also you say deleting "some files" works. What are these files? I also think you should start looking at these files to see if there is anything out of the ordinary with them. If they are topic .HTM files, try importing these into a new project a few at a time until you get the issue. That should help narrow them down.

Finally you say this was a ForeHelp project. Can you confirm that you are using the RoboHelp HTML application and not the RH for Word application. Also was WebHelp ever generated in a previous version of RoboHelp? In other words, is this the first time the project has been used in Robohelp?

No error, no message. It doesn't work that's all. Idem if I try to leave Robohelp. I can work on the project (create a new file ou a new key word for example) but nothing takes place if I click for generating any kind of output or for leaving the IT application.

I deleted a lot of files some months ago in the beginning of this project and I don't remember which one. It's now practically a new project.

Try closing the project, going to Windows Explorer and deleting the project's .CPD file. Next open the project and see if that makes any difference.

Can you show us the first page of the WebHelp Single Source Layout "recipe"? Use the camera icon in the Forum's web interface. I'm wondering if the location where you are trying to generate the help is too lomg a path.

I am not sure I understand your question. Do you think the adress for the server is too long ? Here it is :
albator.ina.fr\robothelp1\webhelp\index.htm. But, I used it several times these last months. And, why is il impossible to leave the project (menu exit) ?

Where is this camera icon ? I don't see it.

Are you generating direct to the server? If you are that is not the correct workflow.

Always generate to a local drive then either copy the files to the server or use Rh's Publish function.

You will not see the camera icon until you click Reply. It is in the Reply pod.

Yes, I do but the output was configurated by an computer specialist. I think he used the line of appropriate menu in Robohelp. The project's files are not the same in my computer and in the server.

Generating to the server may well be the cause of the crashing.

The files in your project will be different to what is on the server, that is the point of generating, to create what has to be on the server.

It looks like it is time to call that specialist in and tell them what is going wrong.

- I had the same problem in march and the project was only on my computer at this moment there

- I can't leave Robohelp : "exit" in the menu don't work. I have to force the closure.

Looking back through the thread, any other project is fine but when you open this one, you cannot then close Rh, is that correct?

Strange, very strange. Normally situations like that are resolved by deleting the CPD file.

How big a project is it? How many topics?

Would you be willing to share it with me? The content will mean nothing to me.

Thank You. I send you all the project except because the output webhelp is not in this file (it is on the server) and because the project is too big even zipped. There are more than 650 topics.

Something is getting lost in the translation here. You are saying you are sending it then saying it is too big. The number of topics doesn't matter, what is the zip file size? I don't need the output.

I think Izarc just compressed the files which contain other files and not the small ones like x.apj ou .ssl. Is there two different words for in English ? In French, we use "fichier" (simple file) and "dossier" (file which contains files).
