cc_merchant Aug 9, 2013 1:50 AM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)CUDA support has been around for a very long time and both Adobe and nVidia have had all the time in the world to optimize drivers and code to give the best performance possible. It is a mature technology. OpenCl and AMD are like new kids on the block and one can expect growing pains as they go from infancy to adolescence to adulthood.
For now the advise is nVidia.
Forget about Windows 7 Home Premium, since it can only access 16 GB of the 32 you have installed. You need Windows 7 Pro or Windows 8 Pro.

3. Re: GPU Acceleration. Which one to choose for Premiere CC: CUDA or OpenCL?
PierreLouisBeranek Aug 9, 2013 5:30 AM (in response to cc_merchant)Hi cc_merchant and Terry_Green,
Thank you so much for your input! You've made the decision easy, nVidia it is then!
I didn't know that Windows 7 Home Premium can't recognize more than 16GB of RAM (that's as much RAM as I've used with it so far). Thanks for the tip. I've got a copy of Windows 8 Pro, but not Windows 7 Pro, so I guess I'll stick with Windows 8 then. 8.1 is just around the corner, so that should improve it quite a bit I imagine.
Now the decision will be between two nVidia cards:
GTX770M with 3GB VRAM in a heavier (9lbs), pricier laptop just like the one I have now
GTX765M with 2GB VRAM in a lighter (7lbs), more portable laptop that got introduced since I purchased the defective Sager 8270 I need to replace.
Any thoughts?
