My o/s is XP SP3. 'Failed to Initialize' error when updating to latest version.

I obtained this 'Failed to Initialize' error when using Google Chrome and the Microsoft IE8 browsers. Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Google Chrome has it's own embedded Flash Player. Updating Chrome should update the plugin as well. If that fails, download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking one of the following links.

Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)

Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

REBOOT and THEN run the installer(s).
