How do I get flash player to install

I downloaded the latest version of Flash Play on my computer but when attempting to install on Windows Explorer Version 10 it stops at 50% and tells me I have to close the internet explorer even though there are no program running at the time as I saved the file to the desktop and close the explorer.  How can I finish the installation?  Thanks.
