1. Re: RAID 0 and Read/Write in Premiere Pro Question
joe bloe premiere Aug 30, 2013 4:22 PM (in response to soloalpinist)is it correct that my system will see these 2 hard drives as ONE drive?
Yes.
I've read that Premiere Pro also benefits from Reading From and Writing To 2 seperate disks... if so... how do I do that with RAID 0 if it is detected as only ONE disk?
Have more than two disks (recommended).

soloalpinist Aug 30, 2013 5:49 PM (in response to nescio nomen)I've read thru the above previosuly and understand the benefits but...
If 2 disks set up "striped" in RAID0 I'm still confused as to whether they will be listed as 2 drives on the PC or show up as one.
If they do show up as one how can you designate one for Media Files (Reading) and one for Export Files (Writing) ?

They will show up as one.

You can't.
You will need more than two physical hard drives.

As one.

You can't.
Each volume has a unique identifier.

7. Re: RAID 0 and Read/Write in Premiere Pro Question
soloalpinist Aug 31, 2013 10:24 AM (in response to JSS1138)On my new Video Editing PC I will have the following drives:
(2) 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drives
(2) 256GB SSD Hard Drives
(1) 2TB 7200 rpm Hard Drives
I've read thru Harm's "Generic Disk Guidelines"... I'm looking for suggestions.
With Premiere Pro Performance in mind what set-up would provide the best performance?
Thanks for any and all input..

8. Re: RAID 0 and Read/Write in Premiere Pro Question
JSS1138 Sep 1, 2013 2:53 PM (in response to soloalpinist)Here's what I'd do.
C: System - 256 GB
D: Projects - 1TB
E: Cache/Scratch - 256 GB
G: Media - 2TB
H: Exports - 1TB
This will give you a very well balanced load, with very little or no reading and writing to the same drive at the same time, and none of the dangers of RAID 0.
