    Creative Cloud Desktop App

    Tnmike Community Member

After reading many of the discussions on this problem, I ask for help with trepidation.  I have an iMac, OS 10.7.5, Lion and I subscribed to CC one week ago.  The CC desktop app did not install visually as the instructions said it should.  It has never opened automatically on start up.  I have always launched it manually thru Finder/Applications.  Today that method no longer works.  After a shutdown/restart procedure the app seems to try to launch but it never seems to connect to the internet (just get a spinning wheel, not the Apple color wheel).  (yes, other programs connect to the internet ok).  The CC programs (3) and updates (2) that I have downloaded by using the desktop app appear to work fine, however the number of files in the Applications database is building rapidly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the desktop app working again and is there a source that would let me clear up some of the application files that are not needed?  Thanks for any help.

          Hi Tnmike,

Please nvigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db and trash it. Try to launch CC desktop and sign in with your Adobe Id (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html) .

          Regards,

Unable to locate the OOBE file on the path suggested.  I did find three files with OOBE in name:

            /MacHD/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Applications/P6/Adobe_oobelib.dylib and

            /MacHD/Applications/Utilities/Adobe/Applications/P7/Adobe_oobelib.dylib and

            /MacHD/Applications/Utilities/Adobe/Applications/LWA/Adobe_oobelib.dylib

            Which one should be deleted?

The file is in the user Library, not the Applications folder. To see the hidden user Library (not the system Library) in the Finder click on the Go menu item and then hold down the Alt / Option key. You will see Library appear between Home and Computer. Click on Library and then navigate to Application Support > Adobe > OOBE.

Alternatively open the Terminal and paste in the following and then press the Enter / Return key:

              rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db

This will also delete the file.

Thanks, this helps me, I should have followed the link in Romit Sinha's reply.  My bad.

However, I did finally trash the document oprm.db and this did not solve the problem. I am not sure I am launching CC desktop correctly.  Can I get some help with this?

                Thanks.

Update to reply #4.  I was able to launch CC desktop thru Adobe Application Manager and there was a CC desktop update immediately available. The first attempt to update seemed to fail (Error code: A12E1).  CC desktop did however launch and the window opened.  It was showing that an update was available.  I launched the update a second time and it seemed to install correctly.  It shows which apps and updates that I have installed.  I checked the OOBE file, per the above instructions, and this file is totally different.  I now have the CC desktop icon on the dock and it appears to launch this app ok.
