1. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
Curt Y Sep 7, 2013 9:46 AM (in response to G.Hoffmann)Flie associations are made in Bridge in preferences/file type associations. Do you have either CS2 or CS6 running in the background?

G.Hoffmann Sep 7, 2013 10:30 AM (in response to Curt Y)Thanks Curt,
but I think, if I double-click on a file name, as shown by the operating system – Bridge isn't involved at all.
Nothing is running in the background. I just want to assign a SELECTED ONE of the programs with the
same name.

Curt Y Sep 7, 2013 10:37 AM (in response to G.Hoffmann)No, this is controlled by Bridge. But I must admit I am a little unsure on how the lash up between preferences in Bridge and the OS works. For most users they do not have to go to OS, just Bridge to change how image opens. But then again, what browser are you using to view/open images?

4. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
JJMack Sep 7, 2013 11:57 AM (in response to G.Hoffmann)Only one version of Photoshop can run on a windows system at any given time. If either CS2 or CS6 is started and you use something to open an image file in Photoshop the current running version will be used. If Photoshop is not running then file type association application should open. If you installed CS6 after CS2 then CS6 is most likely the application associate with image file types. CS2 did not have a bridge. The bridge preferences has a set of files type assocations that can be set to whatever you want or reset to their defaults.

6. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
G.Hoffmann Sep 7, 2013 11:23 PM (in response to R_Kelly)Thanks for all advices, I'm getting gradually more insight
(sorry, I'm not contributing to the point system).
I've Bridge CS2 and Bridge CS6 installed. In both preferences I've chosen Photoshop CS2
for opening *.tif. Furtheron I've tried to re-assign in Folder Options Photoshop CS2, but the
whole system reverts always to CS6.
The option Advanced ist here not available for TIF and e.g. JPG, but for other less known
file formats.
I'm using Windows XP SP3 with built-in Windows-Explorer and Bridge CS2 or CS6 only for
synchronizing color settings.

R_Kelly Sep 8, 2013 12:11 AM (in response to G.Hoffmann)Instead of the Advanced button, does it have Restore there instead for tifs and jpegs?

8. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
G.Hoffmann Sep 8, 2013 12:26 AM (in response to R_Kelly)You're right, there is restore=Wiederherstellen. In my understanding
this should mean: restore old settings after a modification.

9. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
R_Kelly Sep 8, 2013 1:21 AM (in response to G.Hoffmann)If you press the Restore button it should change to Advanced, but photoshop cs6 will probably still be shown.
The idea is to get photoshop cs2 to show up on the Open With list.
If your able to get the Advanced button to show after pressing Restore and it still shows photoshop cs6, do you have
edit shown under the Actions in the Advanced dialog?

10. Re: Doubleclick should open image file by version CS2 (not CS6)
G.Hoffmann Sep 8, 2013 2:58 AM (in response to R_Kelly)Following your advice, in mode Advanced, Edit, I've assigned the filename by
searching Photoshop.exe in the CS2 folder. This works!
Photoshop CS2 is now in the List of recommended programs.
By the way:
In the Registry we'll find program names like Photoshop.exe or InDesign.exe
without path information – there it's not possible to distinguish between versions.
Many thanks for the progressive help.
