Flash Player Help!

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get Flash Player to work on my computer.  I have Windows 7, Explorer.  Just today I got rid of Google Chrome since that seems to be making everything more complicated.  I received the message that the installation is successful and I can locate Flash Player on my control panel, but I cannot actually use it in any way since every time I try to acces a program that requires it, I am given the message that I have to install Flash Player.  I have gone through every online explanation that I can find, and have spent almost a month installing and uninstalling this program.  I don't know what else to try.
