NightSkyGuy Aug 25, 2013 5:50 PM (in response to RizziDesigns1)The answer to the question "What level of Typekit is included in Adobe Creative Cloud" is "NONE".
The creative cloud application has had a "coming soon" on the Fonts tab since I joined CC - that was three months ago after Terry White touted the expansive font library as part of the great service that CC offers. Apparently "Soon" might mean this year, but not in the quarter.

Liz, Typekit Support Aug 28, 2013 3:02 PM (in response to NightSkyGuy)Sorry for any confusion here. There are actually two parts to the Typekit Portfolio subscription that you get in Creative Cloud. Access to the full library of web fonts has been available since Creative Cloud launched.
Desktop font syncing is a new addition to the plan. The Creative Cloud team has been rolling out early access to the new font sync feature which lets you use Typekit fonts on the desktop as well. You can read more about it on our blog (http://blog.typekit.com/2013/08/08/sign-up-for-early-access-to-desktop-font-sync/) or just head over to request early access: https://creative.adobe.com/earlyaccess.
If you have any questions on using Typekit for web or desktop, you can get in touch with us at support@typekit.com.
Best,

5. Re: What level of TypeKit is included in the Creative Cloud?
NightSkyGuy Sep 8, 2013 10:12 AM (in response to Liz, Typekit Support)I have a question. The site says "Thousands of fonts, and growing"
But when I browse the fonts with no attributes selected (theoretically all fonts), it says "934" fonts. And of those only 205 are available for desktop use. Am I right in assuming that "thousands" refers to the different styles available for each font or are there actually more fonts available than the 935 shown?
Proxima Nova has 15 different styles from thin to extra bold and black italic, for example.
Also, if I wish to request a font for desktop use, do I need to know the foundry? I ask because I like the Napoli and Napoli Serial fonts in regular, thin, bold, and demi bold (not the obliques) BUT everywhere I find these fonts it lists a different foundry! One, for example lists: SoftMaker, another names Morris Fuller Benton and Typeshop, and yet another list a different foundry.
Last question, if I want to mock up documents in Photoshop that will be using Web Fonts, is there a plug in for that? I notice Google fonts and several others have such plugins, but I'm not sure how I can mock up using TypeKit fonts. I found this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5289239 which says it's not possible. I also notice that the hype shown here only gives an example of using a desktop font. http://theindustry.cc/2013/05/06/typekit-to-allow-desktop-syncing-of-fonts as I already noted, only about 25% of the available fonts are desktop.

> Am I right in assuming that "thousands" refers to the different styles available for each font or are there actually more fonts available than the 935 shown?
You're correct. Font here is referring to the variation of the font. All of the fonts available on Typekit can be found here: http://typekit.com/fonts and you can see a full list here: http://typekit.com/libraries
> Also, if I wish to request a font for desktop use, do I need to know the foundry?
Having a foundry would help but is not required. You can send any font requests and any other info about the font to: support@typekit.com.
I've noted down your request for Napoli in our request list. That being said, Napoli looks like a fairly stylized font and we aren't looking to add too many of these at the moment.
> Last question, if I want to mock up documents in Photoshop that will be using Web Fonts, is there a plug in for that?
We have started rolling out the new font sync feature from Typekit in Creative Cloud. You can learn more and sign up for access from this blog post:
http://blog.typekit.com/2013/08/08/sign-up-for-early-access-to-desktop-font-sync/
You’ll be able to sync the fonts to your computer and use them in all your applications for web mockups, print design, word processing, and more. This help page lists the foundries and faces that will be initially available for desktop:
http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/1189216-coming-soon-syncing-fonts-to-your -desktop
In the meantime, if you need to work with a specific font in your desktop applications, you'll still need to acquire a desktop license from the foundry.
I hope this helps. Feel free to drop us a line at: support@typekit.com with any further questions, requests, or suggestions.
Cheers,
Ben

7. Re: What level of TypeKit is included in the Creative Cloud?
NightSkyGuy Sep 10, 2013 8:40 PM (in response to Ben, Typekit Support)Thanks, Ben,
I have access to the beta. I reported my findings on that over here. Of the 935 fonts, 205 can be "synced" to the desktop and only those that can be synced appear in Photoshop as usable for mockups. My question in a nutshell is whether there is a plan to be able to mock up using the other 75% of the fonts. Sounds like the answer is No - they must be purchased - but it's not clear how - or if - a web font can be purchased for web development! It's also not clear how I could purchase a font for printed collateral (desktop) use.
As for Napoli Serial (not to be confused with a Cyrillic font with a similar name)... it's quite similar to Tachyon, Xenara, Neuropol Nova, Orbitron and several other display fonts in the TypeKit library - none of which are available as "Desktop" so currently there is nothing with that futuristic look that I can use with my business collateral. I guess for this case it just makes sense for me to buy the font from MyFonts.com rather than hoping that the font will be made available through TypeKit as a web and desktop font - so that's what I've done.
The funny thing is I only know about Napoli Serial Xlight because it was apparently installed by some software - and I have no idea what software.
