Trouble Installing Flash Player to Mac

I can download but not successfully install the latest version of Flash Player to my Mac.  I am uisng OSX 10.8.4 and Safari 6.0.5.  I have read and tried the troubleshooting techniques I have seen including shutting down browser when installing, turning off fire wall when downloading, uninstalling last version of Flash Player, etc.  No matter what I do, the install process aborts when it reaches 50% complete.  Any suggestions on why this is happening and what I can do to successfully install Flash Player?  Thanks.
