I have downloaded and installed the Adobe flash player for Firefox. do I still need the activex for IE

I have windows xp

I keep BOTH installed and up to date even though I don't use IE. It's only a few megabytes in size so it's not like it'll fill up your hard drive.

is there a link where I can find them to keep them both updated? I use to belong to a group that provided the 2 links for firefox and IE, but it has closed down now and this is so confusing to me.

Those are direct links to the installers and they're updated as new versions are released. Right click and "Bookmark" them for future reference.
