I'd like your thoughts and perhaps the potential pitfalls on the following:
I have been asked to look at a wordpress-based website, but it isn't responsive; the client wants a mobile friendly version. It makes sense to me to use the current content that I assume to be held in the wordpress database and create a jQuery Mobile version, but how viable is this?
I assume I can add a browser detection to a wordpress site enabling me to switch a user from the desktop version to a jQuery Mobile version, but where do I host the jQuery mobile version? Also, I am hoping that once I have created the jQuery Mobile version, I can then PhoneGap it, but I am not sure if this is viable either because of the need to keep php out of the code to pass Apple's app rules.
Perhaps I am just better off asking the client to go down the route of changing to a responsive theme, but that then leaves me open to the client going back to the original desinger! This is something I'd like to avoid because there are other opportunities there to be taken.
Thanks.
Save yourself a lot of wasted time & frustration. Simply move the client to a Responsive WP Theme (purchased ones are usually better than freebies). Also be prepared to explore other plugins in case current ones aren't compatible with the new Theme.
