Photoshop Elements won't install and won't uninstall

Photoshop Elements 10 stopped working so I tried to re install. The new install routine keeps trying to uninstall the currently installed version and I get an error there is no path so it does not uninstall either. Since it won't uninstall it won't reinstall either. 10 hours on this and a day lost!  There must be a program that searches out what the install program is seeing to want to unistall the curretn version first and delete the entries.  After all this time trying to use the program set up to reinstall I tried manually deleting adobe program files and registry entries to see if I could get lucky - of course there is no luck with this stuff. So what to do. I want to reinstall the program and set up will not do so. What to do ????

Hi tombarber,

Welcome to the Community!

Download our Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner tool: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html and see if it detects the software.

If not then you can try any third party uninstaller available on the internet for free or else you can try and delete the product's files from the C drive.

Thanks!

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, it did not work. I've renamed every folder I could find with a PSE reference to another name and will try reinstalling again in a few moments. Most of the folders and files would not let me delete them - so yet another thing in the way.

In that case enable the hidden admin for Windows here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vist... and try deleting the folders & files. Once deleted try installation.

If you have MAC, enable root user here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and retry installation.

Could not understand that Admin account, but I was now able to delete all the PSE folders I had found and renamed (perhaps because I had renamed them before and whatever was preventing a delete was worked around), but then rebooting and trying another reinstall did not work. It keeps wanting to remove the existing installation and then I get "error 2343. no specified path" and the install process stops.

There must be something the install routine keeps seeing to want to remove the program. Yet there is evidentially no path for the program to get to it. This 'path thing' may have been the original problem when elements organizer stopped working as I could not find it in windows control panel uninstall programs dialog box as it was not even listed. (my original problem was clicking on elements features and nothing happened), and I eventually got to trying to reinstall it.

So I am now lost.

Well, thanks for trying to help me.

I saw where Adobe support only helps with current versions and my PSE 10 is now one version back. I'd upgrade to the ver 11 but I think this problem would persist and I could not install it. I saw remnants of the 2 older versions I had on this machine as well when I was looking for ver 10 files to delete.

I will have to find another way to do my projects

Thanks
