If anything I would say the selection is about a pixel or two away from the edge of the object allowing the background to transfer as well. This can be called a fringe or a matte. If you look in the menus I beleive the image menu towards the bottom is a matte removal command, that may help as well. Another option is in the selection menu, you could contract the selection a pixel or two and see if that helps.
I don't recall if CS3 had the refine edge command yet, that makes it much easier to deal with edges like this, since it is more visual of a process.
