os x 10.8.2 wont let me install flash player

SO, I have downloaded the newest flash player, i use safari and my mac runs os x 10.8.2.

When i open it i click install, then open at the little security message thing then I enter myuser name and password and nothing happens?

i have tried to download the external links people post on the forum but once i download them they say "safari can not open" "no available application to open"

i have uninstalled my old one (becasue i was original trying to update) and i have cleared all the cache and i have made sure that download are available to "anywhere"

can anyone help me with this?

First things first. Update your OS to 10.8.5.
