MAC - Can't get past the initializing stage for downloading flash 10.8.800.168

I'm running on OS X 10.8.4 on my macbook, using safari as my browser. Everytime I go to download the new flash player (10.8.800.168)  I cannot get past the 'initializing stage'. I've just tried to download the clean version shown on this discussion board but the download status bar doesn't move past 'preparing to download' stage. I have successfully downloaded other documents and software very recently. In fact I downloaded OnyX last week to clean and to carry out maintenance as I thought is was acache issue to begin with. That didn't work either. Please help

With "clean version" you mean http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_player_11_osx.d... ?

There must be something wrong with your connection; I just downloaded it and it completed within about 5 seconds.
