Any of the Eric Meyer books on CSS.
The html book by Elizabeth Castro (5th or 6th edition), I've heard the 5th
is much better than the 6th. (available at Amazon com or your local
bookstore may have it).
CSS books by Rachel Andrew are good too.
101 CSS tips and tricks is a good one.

I guess I'd favour Rachels' book only because I know that she writes in a
style that is easy to read with lots of examples to work through.
The latest Eric Meyer book too is a hands on 'exercise' book. (CSS Web Site
Design) Follow along as css rules are explained and end up with a working
website project.
I don't think you'll go wrong with either. I would seriously consider
Rachels' 101 Tips book too though, I keep referring to that quite often
myself :-)

Newsgroup_User Mar 26, 2007 8:17 PM (in response to Newsgroup_User)I would recomment Eric's "Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide".
It really is the definitive CSS reference guide. I've yet to find a
"hands-on" exercise-driven CSS book that was worth the paper it was
printed on. They seem to be more or less editorial platforms for the
often quirky techniques favored by the authors. Be wary :-)

When I first started learning CSS - I found Eric Meyers book difficult
to understand, and bought others such as Rachel Andrew and Dan Hafers
books with Sitepoint.
But having spent some time learning CSS - I found a reference book
that went deeper - so looked Eric Meyers Definitive guide again - and
as the recent covers IE7 I bought it. I still feel his writing style
is not as good as some others.
For example Elizabeth Castro is an easier read - for me anyway.
Like most subjects - very few single book can provide a readable and
complete text - one needs a variety of books in your library.
