Authoring disc in Encore.  I got this error:

"Encore was unable to complete the operation because of a hardware error (sense code 43e02).  Please contact the hardware manufacturer for more information."

I have a ADK Media machine

      intel i7-3770k cpu @3.50GHz

      32.0 GB RAM

      64 bit os

I am trying to burn to Phillips, +R dual layer media

      I opened Encore as admin

I tried to burn on slowest speed

I tried to burn a smaller project on a single layer disc and got the same error.

rebooted and attempted to create new project with one of the same files - error

      created a disc image successfully

      I am running CS6

The hardware in this error is your burner.

Can be a bad burner; can be a firmware issue.

Burning slow and using good media can help. Phillips is not one of the top brands.

Can you build to a folder? That helps to point to the burner/disk. Then also test by burning from imgburn.

Use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)

When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help

Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim Two layer Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable Two layer

Interesting, I took an "old" project and burned a disc with no issue.  My next step will be to build to folder.

As John notes, I missed the created successful image. Just burn that to further test the burner. Also, many of us never burn with Encore.

All of these responses were helpful.  I used imgburn to burn this project and all seems good.  Two questions, first, what the best dual layer +R, inkjet printable media to use?  Second, do most people use Encore to set up the project, create image or folder and burn with another or is there another and better option for creating DVDs?  I  have always used Encore.  I have had lots of issues and bumps in the road with Encore and it seems like Adobe's orphan program as it seems to be pretty low on their radar as far as modifications and improvements.

                  Thanks for the support.

Encore is not LOW on Adobe's radar, it is OFF the radar - CS6 is the final Encore http://www.adobe.com/products/encore/faq.html

I never burn with Encore... I always create an ISO file and use Imgburn... as I said in #2, Imgburn allows you to set a lower burn speed

I have not had to use dual layer for my home video work, but I mention "Falcon Pro for inkjet printable Two layer" in #2 - since that is only a saved note, I don't know if that brand is -R or +R
