Title interface not working in CS6

Since installing Premiere Pro CS6, I can't create any titles. When I choose Title > New Title > any of the options listed, the titling interface opens, but it keeps churning and won't let me enter text, etc. Eventually I have to force quit. Has this happened to anyone else? Titles worked fine for me in CS5.5.

Computer DETAILS needed... Windows or Mac, and version... graphics adapter brand/model and driver version... any 3rd party fonts installed... to start with information to help someone help you

One of the most common issues with PrPro's Titler is corrupt, or poorly-written fonts. I would look into that, to either solve the issue, or get fonts out of the way early. Also, John T's request for more info will be helpful, especially if you do not have a font issue.

Thanks. I’m looking into the font situation, but in the meantime, I asked IT to get some particulars for me:

PC
Windows 7
64 bit install
video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6450.
The driver is version 8.850.0.0.

Before I started this thread I asked our IT group to reinstall CS6 and any updates; this didn't work.

Since then I have tried the font thing and it doesn't seem to be working either.

Everyone now has the particulars of my system, fonts, etc. Hopefully this will spark some brilliant insight in someone who wants to take on this issue.

To reinterate, the problem with the Titler has only appeared since I installed CS6. It worked fine in CS 5.5. I may have to just reinstall CS5.5, but that's only as a last resort...

How'd you get the titler and the New Title dialog to be open at the same time. That's not normal.

What happens when you hit OK in the New Title dialog?

The Titler is little more than a floating frame containing a particular set of panels. There's no reason you can't leave it open when you're done creating/editing Title A, then eventually go File>New>Title. When you click OK in New Title, the Titler shows the blank slate for Title B, with aspect ratio adjusted if applicable.
Or am I missing some subtlety in your question?

I hit OK in the Titler dialog box and the actual Titler interface comes up, but it won't let me enter text, images or anything; it just churns until I have to force quit PP. The Titler dialog box and the Titler interface are open simultaneously during both actions. It seems like the program is hanging somewere between the two actions. I can post a video if this will help.

No need. Normally the dialog closes when the titler opens. That it's not suggests something went weird with your install. Try deactivating, uninstalling, running the Clean Script tool, and then reinstalling.

Try creating a new user account, see how things work there. (Be sure it's an Admin account.)

Yeah, completely weird. At this point, I’m converting back to CS.5 until my big deadline has passed. Thanks to everyone who gave me some good ideas to try. Too bad they didn’t work this time. ☹
