If you are going to use Encore to author a DVD, you have exactly what you need... one video file and one sound file, which Encore combines

If you are not going to create a DVD, you need a different kind of output

So... what do you want as end result?

When one does want a Multiplexed (combined Audio & Video Streams in one file) output, then this ARTICLE might be helpful.

Good luck,

that seemed to do the trick.  thank you.  just switched to premiere pro from avid liquid and am trying to get up to speed on the workflow.  i wasn't trying to make a dvd, but rather an mpeg 2 file that our leightronix nexus system uses for running programs on our government tv channel.  i wasn't aware of the multiplexer setting and that got me what i wanted.  maybe there's an even better way to do this even.  just working through problems as i go about my routine.

but thanks for the quick response.  i love the forums.

Glad to have helped. That is why I prefaced the comment with "if you need," because there are many output schemes, where one DOES need to have a muxed file with both the Audio & Video Streams inside.

Also, the Multiplexer Tab has eluded many. The assumption is that it is always ON by default.

Good luck,

In that case you can use the mpeg2 (without the -dvd) preset to get just one file.

The station I work at has that exact server. (Except it's the ultra) but hardly any difference. Anyway here is a picture of the export settings we use where I work. Even though the Nexus says it doesn't support bit-rates over 10Mbps it actually will however I don't go higher than 11 since it caused playback issues for us in the past. Anyways though these are the settings that currently work great for our station's Leightonix Ultra Nexus.

It's a great server but truthfully I'm thrilled we are about to a get a Playbox Airbox server for our  HD upgrade.

Hey Guys,

I'm also trying to create mpeg files for the govt access station I work for. We have the Nexus system (not Ultra). I tried the above export setting suggested by ComputerNovie25, but my Nexus sys will not play it. I even tried setting the max bit rate to 5, & still no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,

Steve

That might be a question better asked of the company that makes your hardware.
