1. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
gener7 Nov 2, 2012 5:42 PM (in response to mikejasinski)It is under the Tools panel. If you do not see it, click on the panel menu and check "Action Wizard." The panel menu is in the upper right corner of the Tools panel.
The menu command is View > Tools > Action Wizard Both access the Action Wizard without opening a PDF.
The Action Wizard menu items and even Actions can be added to the toolbar by right-clicking on the items you want. That way they are readily accessible.

3. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
gener7 Nov 2, 2012 11:06 PM (in response to mikejasinski)I did not know you were using the Mac version. Also the term is Menu bar, of which the File menu and View menus are different parts. Not being a schoolmarm, but incorrect terms has us looking in the wrong spots. The screenshots are a big plus...we now know what you know.
I have the Windows version of XI Pro. It looks like the Tools only show in a document unlike the Windows version.
In this case, the Menu bar hides the Tools menu presumably because there are no sub-menu items available.
I have Adobe Reader 9.5.2 on my Mac and I see that the MacOS version only allows toolbars in an open document.
So it seems like XI programmers decided that Tools/Tool sets menu item are not going to show unless you open a document. I don't know if there is a setting for that. I'm hoping a Mac guru can weigh in on this because I don't know much about the MacOS side of Acrobat.
Tthat's as far as I can go. Good Luck.

4. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
Phillip Jones May 21, 2013 7:12 AM (in response to gener7)First this is a Hazzard of lumping every Acrobat user in to one forum instead of having separate Forums for Mac and PC.
Next, Adobe changed this action of nothing showing up (Toolbars and menus) until you open a File, in Acrobat X. Why I have no earthly idea or even a Martian idea.
It would be much better to have several Toolbars that could be customized to add button to do what you wanted.
Now you have to open toolbox side bar to do anything. Blame this Squarely on Adobe though they may be following Apple's Interface Guidelines. Which are Just that Guidelines.

tvsolignani Oct 29, 2013 6:38 AM (in response to mikejasinski)Did you find out any workaround or should we keep opening useless PDF just to access the action menu we need? Thank you.

tvsolignani Oct 29, 2013 6:38 AM (in response to mikejasinski)Thank you. A real non-sense, if you ask me. X was much better. Still, not many people seems to bother, so I guess Adobe will just ignore that. Have a nice day.

nilesh parmar May 21, 2013 2:01 AM (in response to mikejasinski)I also find this annoying, we also do large batch pdf. Its definately missing from the File Menu. I hope they put that menu back in, this seems very long winded.

nilesh parmar May 21, 2013 2:04 AM (in response to gener7)Yes, this shows up when you have a PDF open, but the feature was on X under the File Menu without a PDF opened. Its now annoying when dealing with a lot of PDFs. I would like to see this feature when no PDF is open. Is this possible?

10. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
try67 May 21, 2013 2:07 AM (in response to nilesh parmar)You can add the Manage Actions button to the Quick Tools toolbar, and then
you could run an Action directly from there, without having to open a file.
You can even add individual Actions to that toolbar, for quicker access...

11. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
tvsolignani Oct 29, 2013 6:38 AM (in response to try67)If I have not an opened file into Acrobat, I cannot even view the Quick Tools toolbar.
Is it my mistake?
Thank you.

try67 May 21, 2013 2:45 AM (in response to tvsolignani)Sorry, I'm not working on a Mac so I can't test it there... I had assumed
that at least the toolbar was available when no files are open, but it
seems I was wrong.

tvsolignani Oct 29, 2013 6:39 AM (in response to try67)Well, at least we now know it's a mac-related issue.
Thank you.

14. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
workingfoolz Jul 23, 2013 11:54 AM (in response to tvsolignani)It's worse than that. I can't seem to import an action from Acro10 and have it appear in my Actions.
It didn't appear that Adobe was listening to any of you regarding the MIA action function under the file menu. I don't suppose they'll do anything about importing complex actions from Acro 10 either. That will teach me to upgrade. -
15. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
workingfoolz Jul 23, 2013 12:13 PM (in response to workingfoolz)nevermind, I had a custom toolset it would not appear in. It's very convoluted now. Default tools will show my new Actions. I'm not even going to try figuring out how to get them to appear in the custom tools Action panel.

16. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
try67 Jul 23, 2013 12:22 PM (in response to workingfoolz)You should be able to import Actions created in Acrobat X in XI, but not
edit them.

19. Re: where has action wizard gone in acrobat xi?
try67 Oct 29, 2013 6:55 AM (in response to nilesh1979)With regards to the Actions, I have to agree. In many other respects XI is superior to previous versions, but not in this one.

mikejasinski Oct 29, 2013 11:06 AM (in response to nilesh1979)yes 4th post in this discussion, one with and with an open pdf. I have to open a PDf in order to get the tools to show up.
