Problem installing Flash Player

I have been prompted to install flash player so that I can upload pictures or use other programs. I have dont it by clicking run and run & save. It goes through and says it installed but when I go to upload pictures or use the program that prompted me to use it. It all still says to upload the newest flash player. What do I do ??
