    ClearScan resulting in distorted text

    GeorgeNelson Community Member

I've been using the trial version of Acrobat Pro X for Mac and have attempted to OCR the text on several pdf's i've been working on.  When using any of the OCR options, even ClearScan on 600dpi the text becomes illegible and very distorted.  Has anyone else encountered this problem and do you know how to fix it?

OCR "Searchable Image (Exact)" leaves the image "exactly" as-is. No tweaks.
The OCR output is not visible. The OCR output uses text rendering mode 3 (the glyphs have no stroke and no fill).
Consequently any post process visual display issues would stem from something else.

ClearScan replaces bitmaps of characters recognized with an Acrobat internal font.
If a bitmap of character is not recognized the bitmap is left as-is.
          ClearScan outputs visible glyphs.
How these glyphs are rendered is a function of the display hardware and its associated software.

          Be well...

Could you please share the PDF file on which you are seeing this issue. Is it happening for that specific PDF? or is it happening for all the pdfs?

            Thanks
