    Render half resolution in Encoder

    Matthieu-on Community Member

I like to render half resolution some times for preview purposes - and render time saving.

Also i like to render in the background - via Encoder.

Is there a way to do the half resolutiuon in Encoder too?    And sure - i can choose my output size, but the i will render for instance 1080p instead half of it....

There's no way to get AME to use half the resolution of the media for an export.  You'd actually have to create those half resolution files and use them in the project for this to work.

You can change export settings in AME to reduce the pixel dimensions, but I'm not sure if that is what you are asking. Please clarify.

Thanks. Well, what i meant sits in AEs Render Setting dialogue - you can choose your Output resolution.  If you choose "Half" it simply outputs half the size of your composition.  BUT it also renders four times faster.   And thats what i like about it.   Now, i dont find a way to do this using  Encoder.

I think reducing the pixel dimension in Encoder means it calculates the full comp-resolution and afterwards downsizes it.
