Audition CS6 - Best location of Cache files?

    soloalpinist Community Member

I'm running CS6 Master Suite on Windows 7. I was wondering what is the best way to configure the Primary and secondary cache files in Audition?

My C drive (OS and Programs) is an SSD.  I also have a second SSD that I use for the preview and cache files from Premiere and After Effects etc.

Currently Audition has the Primary cache on the C drive and no secondary cache chosen.

I also have a RAID0 disk (used for Project files for Premiere etc)

      Any suggestions for Audition?

      Thanks!

Probably OK where it is since it's a SSD drive. But I would swap them over though with the primary cache on the second drive and secondary on the C: drive so that Audition caching is kept independant of any OS or Audition plugin calls..

On my all-SSD system I have a separate drive for all temp files, including the Audition cache. Because it gets written to quite frequently, I regard it as sacrificial - it's going to get corrupted before any other drives do, I think, so it only ever gets used for things that don't matter.

I've extended that principle further as well - the OS is on a drive on its own, along with program files, but all work is saved on separate drives until it's archived. The machine's not that old yet, so I have no idea how it's going to work out as a long-term stragegy, but so far it has all behaved fine.
