    aspect ratio problem

    MrSmithMusic Community Member

I updated premeire pro and now it play the aspect ratio back wrong. When I hit the space bar to stop the playback then it reverts to a still at the correct aspect ratio! I imagine this is a bug. What do I do to get back to work? I was hoping to get this project finished for tomorrow but can't work on it like this

Maybe it would be useful if you said what your project settings are, what your content settings are and what your playback window is set to?

Does it do this for a freshly imported clip or is it only on a pre-existing project?

I would try creating a new project and importing a clip fresh to see what happens.

For me, that means that I would create a project of 1920x1080 at 29.97 fps, then bring in a clip of 1920x1080 with the same settings. Then try some at 24fps. Then try something at 1280x720. Then I would try a photo with a different aspect ratio.

When bringing something in with a different aspect ratio, Prem will ask if you want to change the settings to match or keep the project settings. I think it only does that when your project is empty, but I haven't played with it much.

If it was all screwed up in one save file and I couldn't modify the project settings as desired, I would create a new project with the desired settings. Then go to import and choose the old project file. Then you can choose to import ALL the media from that project file.

From there, it should be fairly easy to rebuild your project.

Do you happen to be playing at 1/4 resolution with your sequence Preview File Format set to I-Frame Only MPEG? If so, there is an issue detailed in this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5829431#5829431
