I download, save and install the program. Yet each time I do, and it's been countless times now, the program gets deleted from my downloads and flash player is not there the next time I start up the computer. How can I fix this?

Mike,
I replied to your email regarding but have not heard anything back. In
looking at the forums, I see that I am not the only person having issues with
this latest version of flash player. Do you know when a fix will be
available?
Again, I have Windows 7 enterprise, and I use IE11 and Firefox. Also the
plug in fails to install in AOL even when I download and install each day.
Assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Download the following files by right clicking and selecting Save target as" or "Save Link as".
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Shockwave FULL Installer (ActiveX)
Shockwave FULL Installer (Other Browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLERS to remove all instances of Flash Player and Shockwave.
Run the Flash Player ActiveX Installer.
Next, run the Flash Player Installer for other browsers.
After that, run the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX.
Then run the Shockwave FULL installer for Other Browsers.
Once everything is installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.

Ok, Mike, I did it. It seems to like it may have taken. The folders are
still in my download folder whereas they were missing before. My Explorer
manage add-ons shows shockwave for both 32 and 64 bit. I will know better
tomorrow when I boot up. As an aside, in control panel it shows flash
player but only 32 bit. Is this okay?

The "Settings manager" is a 32 bit application. It changes settings "globally" meaning if you have the ActiveX 32 and 64 bit plugins installed and even the "other browser" plugin, the settings apply to all from that manager.

Mike,
I regret to advise that the fix did not work. When I booted up this
morning flash player and shock wave did not load. Also, even after loading both,
the plug-in for AOL failed to initialize and does not work even after
re-installing flash player. Do you have another suggestion?

Gayr,
AOL? I didn't know you were using AOL.
Honestly, I wouldn't use AOL. I was a "Win-Mac connectivity specialist" for AOL from 2002 through 2003. That is the most god-awful software you can ever run. Unless you're on a dialup connection and absolutely need it to connect, there's no reason to have it installed, because there's NOTHING in AOL software that their website can't do with Firefox or IE. In addition it can "hijack" connectivity and applications settings in your other browser(s). Seriously... Mail, Chat, News... ALL of that is on their website, the same as it appears in the AOL browser.
That could be at the root of all we're seeing here.

Thank you for the info. I use it only for mail really, so I'll check out
getting to it through IE. If I have access to all my mail folders without
problem then I will remove from my PC.
