"it works ok on chrome  just not IE"

That's because Chrome has its own Flash Player plugin embedded, which functions independently of the ActiveX plugin in IE.

Things to try first:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968  -  ActiveX filtering - turn it off

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11  -  Compatibility View - enable it.

I've tried that, I've also uninstalled and re-installed 3 times. I've checked any old versions are removed.

It did this a few weeks ago and I can't remember which path I took to sort it but it took 2 days to get it working again.

It works fine then suddenly it doesn't. Nothing new has been installed and nothing has been  changed it just goes from working to not working

today i was looking at news stories on yahoo and after a couple of video articles it decided to tell me I needed to install flash player.

Which appears to be ok when checked with adobe's checking tool thingy.

There may be a cached file that's sending a bad cookie to Yahoo/

Download this file: deepclean.zip

Unzip it.

Double click the deepclean_set.bat file.
This will open a command prompt window and your Disk Cleanup Settings Manager.

Check EVERY box in the list, and click OK.

Next, double click the deepclean_run.bat file.

This will open the command prompt window again and your Disk Cleanup will run, but it will remove a lot more "junk" than the regular disk cleanup does.  Note: it may take a while, depending on how much stuff it finds to clear.

Once it's done, you can delete the deepclean_set.bat file as you won't need it anymore.

You may want to save the deepclean_run.bat file for future use to clean up your Hard Disk. It's a good way to free up space, and clear out system cache and "backup" files from installations.

After that, try online videos again and see what happens.

I just finished doing a 'deepclean' and it still says i need to install flashplayer.

I also went through Adobe's list of things to do and it still wont work.

I might just have to bin IE and stick with chrome
