FR: 'Sticky' solo settings in Audio Meters window

    PierreLouisBeranek Community Member

When I record video, I often assign my wireless mic feed to channel 1 (Left) on my camera, and set channel 2 (Right) to an on-camera boom mic for backup/ambience sound.  While editing, my workflow is to send a bunch of clips to Premiere Pro's Source Monitor, and then set in/out points in the Source Monitor and send the selected clip ranges to my Timeline.

When viewing clips in the Source Monitor, I hear both audio channels when in fact I only want to hear the main channel, 1, most of the time.  This can easily be fixed by clicking the little 'S' icon at the bottom of the left channel on the Audio Meters window to solo channel 1.

Here's the problem: Every time I switch to a new clip in the Source Monitor, the solo button toggles back to it's default OFF setting, which means I have to keep clicking on the 'S' icon for every new clip I load in the Source Monitor.  The fact that this can quickly before a drag and a huge time waster doesn't need much explaining.

Here's the solution: Make the solo settings in the Audio Meters window 'sticky'.  In other words, continue soloing the left or right channel until the user actively turns soloing off.

Before I send Adobe an official FR for this, I was wondering: does this current 'auto-off' behavior actually benefit any Premiere users?  Perhaps there's some kind of obscure benefit that I'm not aware of, that would make this a case where we'd be best served by a Preferences menu option to make solo 'stickiness' a user selectable setting.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
