1. Re: FR: 'Sticky' solo settings in Audio Meters window
JSS1138 Dec 4, 2013 6:33 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)You can easily achieve the desired behavior now by defining the audio channels ahead of time. You can then reverse this on clips in the sequence if need be.

PierreLouisBeranek Dec 5, 2013 4:41 AM (in response to JSS1138)But doesn't that entail extra work that could easily be avoided by having the option of solo settings being sticky? The whole point here is making things easier and more intuitive, not more complex with work arounds that add more work for the user.

JSS1138 Dec 5, 2013 11:56 AM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)Extra work or not, it will do the job now. Besides, do you really want that nat sound in the mix? Isn't it just for backup?
Or, you can suffer until Adobe decides to change the Solo behavior (if they ever do).
Users choice.

shooternz Dec 5, 2013 12:19 PM (in response to PierreLouisBeranek)I record audio to 2 tracks (from 2 mics) in camera just like you ( and its normal practice anyway)
Setup:
Import the Clips and select all in the bin
Modify Audio >Clips
Number of Audio Tracks = 2
Channel Format = Mono
Gives you this:
Left Source Channel = (Track) Audio 1 Channel in Track 1
Right Source Channel = (Track) Audio 2 Channel in Track 1
Solo / Mute or MIx Audio 1 or Audio 2 as you wish. It does not change if you add a clip.
BTw - thanx to Ann B for advising me on this some time ago.

5. Re: FR: 'Sticky' solo settings in Audio Meters window
JSS1138 Dec 5, 2013 12:36 PM (in response to shooternz)When listening in the Source Monitor, you will still hear both channels that way. He wants to hear only one channel in the Source Monitor. Changing that channel 2 to None will accomplish that.

shooternz Dec 5, 2013 12:43 PM (in response to JSS1138)I missed the Source Monitor thing.

7. Re: FR: 'Sticky' solo settings in Audio Meters window
PierreLouisBeranek Dec 6, 2013 7:33 PM (in response to shooternz)I always do what you suggest shooternz, but as Simon pointed out, it doesn't work as far as being able to select which channel to listen to in the Source Monitor, and have that selection persist when switching between clips that are loaded in the Source Monitor.
I'm still wondering if the current behavior is actually useful for anyone, such that a user preference in the form of a simple 'Solo settings persist when changing Source Monitor clips' checkbox would be warranted (checked by default to enable the far more useful behavior I'm requesting, and uncheckable for those who prefer a crappy workflow over adopting change.) My gut instinct is that giving users a checkbox would just give Adobe more work than is worth it, since who really needs the currently behavior anyways? Adobe could just make Solo settings 'sticky' by default and be done with it.
