1. Re: How Can I Create a Menu Where the Audio Loops Twice But the Video Loops Forever
Stan Jones Dec 7, 2013 12:07 PM (in response to S Kendall)Use 2 menus: the first loops twice and goes to the second menu, which has only video, no audio.
I'm now looking for a more elegant way...

S Kendall Dec 7, 2013 12:18 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Hey Stan. Thanks for the reply. The only issue I see with using two menus is that let's say there are 5 buttons on the menu; if the user is moving around the menu and ends up on button #4 when the menu gets to the end of the 2nd loop and goes over to the menu without audio, won't the default button (normally button #1) become highlighted, causing the user to have to move it again to button #4?

3. Re: How Can I Create a Menu Where the Audio Loops Twice But the Video Loops Forever
Ann Bens Dec 7, 2013 12:21 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I would make an audio track in Premiere with two times the audio on the timeline followed by some empty audio.
Render this out.
Set looppoint in Encore on the silent part.

But, if I set a loop point of say 60 seconds (the audio taking 30 seconds, then looping once), won't the user be unable to make any menu selections during this first 60 seconds. They would assume the disc was broken. Do you know of a way to set the loop point and still allow the user to make a menu selection before the loop point is reached?

Yes, that is a problem.
I suspect that a disk working as you describe without that problem (or the one you describe in response to Ann's suggestion) is using scripting or similar (which Encore does not, of course, have). I do not know if that works, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Are you referring the commercially available DVDs that I've seen achieving what I mentioned in the first post?
There's definately a way to do this, but perhaps Encore just insn't capable. I always find it annoying when a DVD menu loops music or some other audio infinately. I may stick a disc in the player and walk into the other room to do something while it's loading up. I always appreciate it when whoever made the disc only has the music or audio looping a couple of times, then it stops.
Just wish I could do the same.

True. Encore does not have scripting. That's what I meant. Encore has many limitations because of that, but it was never Scenarist.
Using only Encore, you can include a button that turns the audio off (goes to a second menu like the one I described).
You might be able to use ifoEdit or similar tools to achieve this with an Encore built image. I do not know.

S Kendall Dec 7, 2013 3:10 PM (in response to Stan Jones)It's too bad Adobe didn't just add the ability to toggle whether or not users had menu functionality before the loop point or not. That would have been perfect.
