1. Re: Best way to create attractive subtitles
Ann Bens Dec 14, 2013 4:42 AM (in response to Elliott B.)I would give the layers a sequential number:
001_the beginning
002_whatever..
003_the middle.
...
196_the end
Then they will sort on nummbers instead of letters.

JSS1138 Dec 14, 2013 7:27 AM (in response to Elliott B.)Even in a PSD, you have to change the text one layer at a time. I don't know of any way to make global changes to text workable with PP. That's why I think we need a new feature in Premiere Pro. Maybe something called Global Styles. Any title in any project that is based on a Global Style will automatically reflect any changes made to that Global Style.

Ann Bens Dec 14, 2013 7:30 AM (in response to JSS1138)Steven had a good solution with making titles with the Title and a macro in Word.
But I think the test project died, have not heard about it for a while.

Elliott B. Dec 14, 2013 9:25 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Link to Steven's solution?
Jim, in Photoshop it's very easy, you just select all layers and change the font and color in the formatting bar. Then all the titles should refresh automatically in Premiere. I agree that we need a built-in tool though, and I've already submitted a feature request.
Ann, numbering the layers would work, but I think any time you change the text it resets the layer name. I wonder if it's possible to write a script that automatically prepends layer numbers to the layer names. Are layers even numbered in Photoshop?
No one has a solution to convert a stacked timeline like this to sequential clips?

Elliott B. Dec 14, 2013 9:51 AM (in response to Elliott B.)Found a script! http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/photoshop-scripting/23234-script-find-replace-text-layer- names.html
This will rename all the Photoshop layers sequentially. That solves my immediate problem, but still, Photoshop is a time-consuming way to type subtitles. I guess the real solution would be to buy a software like EZ Titles.
