John_Picton Dec 15, 2013 2:09 PM (in response to Rafael Aviles)Thanks for the input - but sorry, on two levels that doesn't work for me (although it is entirely possible I am doing something wrong - it has been known :-) ).
When I hold down alt the menu just disappears either when doing it in the layers panel or when I do it in the layers menu.
Secondly (and I really do appreciate your suggestion) a couple of my clients cant use both hands (one of them is an amputee).
Thanks again.
Kind regards
John

Trevor.Dennis Dec 15, 2013 2:13 PM (in response to John_Picton)Sounds like you might need to make some Actions and assign to the Function keys.

I know how useful keyboard short cuts are but I am working with some clients who have limited mobility and that combination is a bit tough.
For sure you can record a single step action to do that however I would record a two steps
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N
Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E
Then set a F key to that action. Some times Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E does not do anything has to do with what the current Photoshop target is in the current document. Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N add a new empty layer without a prompt and becomes the current target. Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E will stamp visible layers into the current target layer if its empty.
