JSS1138 Aug 21, 2013 8:42 AM (in response to Toke_dk22)MXF OP1a has the presets.

Toke_dk22 Aug 21, 2013 8:46 AM (in response to JSS1138)But they want the .MPG extension that's the problem... so stupid.... isn't there some other Mpg codec with thees features?

rgmarett Dec 17, 2013 12:20 PM (in response to Toke_dk22)Hi Toke_dk22, Did you manage to get the settings Chroma: 4:2:2 since upgradeing to CC I'm stuck at Chroma: 4:2:0 which is no good.
MXF OP1a isn't a format that's accepted. It has to be MPEG-2:
625/50 PAL
50Mbps CBR I fram only
Profile: 422P@ML
Colour Sampling: 4:2:2
(4:2:0 will not be accepted)
Video Size: 720 x 576
(608 inc VBI - VITC on lines 19 & 21)
Field: Upper field first (odd)
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer-2
Bitrate: 384kbps
Sample Rate: 48khz
Stereo

You understand that MXF is simply a container, and can hold many different codecs, including MPEG2?

6. Re: chroma subsampling always read as 4:2:0 og Low Mbps??
rgmarett Dec 17, 2013 2:51 PM (in response to JSS1138)I understand that yes. But Adstream won't accept anything with a .mxf filename, I've sent them a MediaInfo dump of the MXF OP1a output but they're adamant.
They will accept Uncompressed YUV 8Bit QuickTime files though, so that's the route I'll take.
Premiere Pro CS5.5 and 6 encoded MPEGs with a colour sampling of 4:2:2 no problem, it's only this latest version (CC) that doesn't want to play ball. It seems to have confused Adobe too. I spoke to one of their technical support staff via the live chat. They asked for my phone number and said they'd call me in a "few minutes" - that was about 3 hours ago.
I haven't solved the problem, but the QT route is acceptable (apart from the large file sizes).
Also, just to be clear, I'm not talking about Profile at 4:2:2, that's different to Colour Sampling.

7. Re: chroma subsampling always read as 4:2:0 og Low Mbps??
JSS1138 Dec 17, 2013 5:46 PM (in response to rgmarett)Yeah, I couldn't find any way to set 4:2:2 with MPEG either.
Too bad they don't accept MXF. It really is the best container, and quite broadcast friendly.

8. Re: chroma subsampling always read as 4:2:0 og Low Mbps??
rgmarett Dec 20, 2013 9:11 AM (in response to JSS1138)Yep, MXFs would be perfect.
It's us Brits - stuck in our ways.
If anyone else is having trouble conforming to AdStream's requirements. I'd recommend encoding a Quicktime file, using the preset 'Uncompressed YUV 8Bit'. The file sies are obviously larger, but they do zip up okay to something more manageable.
Also, don't use the 'Black Video' Premiere item for the 10 seconds of black at the end, create a black PNG image file and put that on the timeline. AdStream's QT Inspector doesn't recognise the Black Video so will think your footage goes on for longer than it does. The Inspector will assume a drop in framerate to match the missing 10 seconds. They thought I'd sent over a file with a fps of 20.87 instead of 25. It was the 'Black Video' which did it.
I'm probably not explaining myself very well, so to sum up, if you want black on your timeline, use a black image file.
I don't know why, that's another thing for tech support.
