1. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
Stan Jones Dec 21, 2013 5:05 AM (in response to BSPV)This appears to happen with Mavericks. Did you upgrade and then start having this problem?

BSPV Dec 21, 2013 11:38 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Yes. From looking around and chatting with people this appears to be the problem. Though I'm not sure now as to what solution there is. I would rather not downgrade the OS as there are other production apps I have that need Mavericks. I may have to to finish the job though.

3. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
Stan Jones Dec 21, 2013 11:56 AM (in response to BSPV)The workaround was not to left-click on the menu. Use right click, or other options and menu commands.

See post 12 and several following where we are looking for workarounds to the error.

BSPV Dec 21, 2013 12:21 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I'm kind of trying to decipher what was said but in short I have to manually make the nuttons in Photoshop then? Is there a simple way to do that? And to make sure the highlight appears. I've always just made them in Encore.

5. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
Stan Jones Dec 21, 2013 12:51 PM (in response to BSPV)I thought there ought to be way to add buttons from the Encore library, but I don't think we found one.
Best case: add menu from the library with buttons like what you want. Change background etc.
I like working that way rather than adding things within Encore.
Worst case: add a menu with the buttons you want; "edit in photoshop" and also "edit in photoshop" your menu; copy paste to your menu.
You can also directly open library menus; add buttons etc from the encore library folders. I would make a copy of them first. Encore imports a menu from the library to your project; it is never working on its master copy.

6. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
BSPV Dec 22, 2013 3:18 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I'm down to two options pretty much, either downgrade the OS (which I can't due without loosing access to other needed Apps) or create a small partition on my drive just for the old OS X. Which is what I'm going to do. That way when I need to work on authoring I can boot in that partition and still have access to the old OS compatibility.

Stan Jones Dec 22, 2013 4:10 PM (in response to BSPV)Sounds creative. Let us know how it goes.
Did you try what I described and it does not work?

8. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
BSPV Dec 22, 2013 5:35 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I did figure it out and creating the button there worked Thanks. But it is kind of annoying having to manually do each element. I have a lot of menus to do. The other bigger issue is I have no idea how to create the subpicture highlight manually. The bottons are thumbnails. The highlight doesn't appear in Ebcore. When I go back into Encore the option to create a subpicture is greyed out in the menu.
I think I will still do the partition so that I don't have to do workarounds for things on these bigger projects.

9. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
Stan Jones Dec 22, 2013 6:24 PM (in response to BSPV)You can easily create highlights in Photoshop.
I completely agree that this is a pain, and the partition is a great idea.

10. Re: Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
BSPV Dec 23, 2013 3:16 AM (in response to Stan Jones)I've gone ahead and done the partition with Mountain Lion running on it and everything is working perfectly. Well, as perfectly as Encore can run. It's never exactly been overly reliable in my experience. I'll be able to finish the job though which is what counts. Keep this in mind as a fix for those having troubles. It may be the only long term compatibility fix as Encore continues to age.
