I am using Windows Vista, unexpectantly Adobe Reader quit working. I have tried numerous times to uninstall, reboot, re-install- nothing works. Adobe Reader appears to install, it appears on the list of programs but takes no space, ie: no MB's. Does this have something to do with a recent update? Or has something in my system been deleted? Do I need a patch or repair for Windows Vista?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

Not a familiar problem.
Did anything else show problems at the same time?
What EXACTLY happens if you try to open a PDF? Message in full please.

Sorry, I misstated the problem: it was not Adobe Reader it was Adobe Flash Player. When I try to open some application I get an error message that the activeX controls did not load properly

This is the Reader forum; the Flash Player one is here:

What kind of application? Can you post the exact message text, or even better a screenshot?
