Day 3:  All previous suggestions have not worked.  I am still getting the error message;

  • The Flash Player settings manager is currently open.  Please close the Flash Player setting manager and try again.

I have 'no' Flash Player settings manager opened.  In fact I had no programs open as well.  After uninstalling all Adobe products and re-installing them in different orders, I still cannot download the Flash Player.  All the other Adobe products download without problems.

Please help, it has been over 3 days without the use of the Flash Player software.

Yes, I tried all the steps of the clean install, more than once.

My operating system is Windows 7.

Reminder: I close all programs before attempting the install.

Thank you.

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking the following links and selecting "Save target as" (IE) or "Save Link as"(Firefox).

Flash Player Uninstaller

Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)

Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Save the files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT run anything yet.

Reboot your system. (IMPORTANT)

BEFORE opening anything, go to the Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.

Next, run the ActiveX installer, and then the (other browsers) Installer.

Lastly, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer  to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.
