1. Re: Premiere Acting Strange after recent update...
Mark Mapes Dec 30, 2013 10:35 PM (in response to NickBoston)Here are two other threads reporting somewhat similar problems:
In some cases, Cineform/GoPro was involved; uninstalling Cineform components resolved those cases. In others, renaming or deleting the "Profile-<username>" folder did the trick; it's here: ..\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\7.0\
If those measures don't work for you, please report what graphics card you have and what version of OSX you're on.
Also, exactly which version of PPro is installed? You refer to the "recent update," but it helps to know the exact version as reported in the About box.

NickBoston Dec 31, 2013 11:47 AM (in response to Mark Mapes)Yes, the second link seemed to help a lot so far. Deleteing the Premere Preference file and having Premiere create a new one seems to work.

Steven L. Gotz Dec 31, 2013 1:09 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Mark,
How many times do we all have to type the instructions for wiping out the preferences before Adobe gives us a menu for the job. It could be slightly hidden away so as to not be used inadvertently, but I think it is time for you guys to do it for the user, not tell him how to do it manually.
No?

4. Re: Premiere Acting Strange after recent update...
Mark Mapes Dec 31, 2013 7:36 PM (in response to Steven L. Gotz)Sounds like a good feature request to me! Indeed, I recently submitted a couple of feature requests in this very vein--specific to giving the user the option to clear prefs on first launch after a crash.
As to your suggestion of a menu command, putting such a command into a menu within PPRO would be fairly simple--it might require closing & restarting the app, but that's no problem. I don't know whether we can add such a command through some OS menu, which would be particularly useful because corrupted prefs sometimes cause the app to crash on launch.
Please keep in mind that I'm just a quality engineer on PPro and have limited input on what features make the cut for any given release. I encourage you to submit a feature request through the normal channel.

JSS1138 Jan 1, 2014 11:14 AM (in response to Mark Mapes)An option to restart PP with cleared preferences seems a pretty logical addition to the Help menu. Firefox has had something similar for a loooong time.
