Old version of kobo no longer detected on ADE

I got an old version of kobo. at first i was able to download books onto it with ade but yesterday eventhough i was reading on it before my device said i didnt have any books on it. when i check on ade on my pc it said the books were on the device while the device said it wasnt. i reset the factory settings and now ade doesnt even detect my device. Even kobo desktop doesnt detect it ! what do i do! im really dissapointed

If you are unlucky, the Kobo has failed in some way.  Lets hope not.

Does the kobo show up as a mounted drive in your file manager (Windows Explorer, Mac FInder) when plugged in?

One thing would be to try a different USB cable; it is not unusual for them to fail.

Can't think of anything else for now.

Thank u for ur reply. well when i plug it in it is detected by the computer n you can open it on my computer. the problem is before i reset it there were some files on the kobo along with my ones from digital editions. but now it is empty. i believe this may be my problem but i dont know how to get those files back

You will probably have lost the books etc that were there before the factory reset,

unless you have a backup elsewhere or can download them again from the supplier.

However, I would expect a factory reset to keep/restore any files necessary for basic operation.

Unless anyone on this forum with a Kobo can help with more detail, you are probably best off contacting Kobo for advice.
