Project Settings question

I'm editing from an external hard drive and every time I close my project, I have to re-link the media clips individually, all 172 of them. Is there a setting that will automatically re-link my clips when i connect to the external drive.

Is that a USB drive that you unplug between uses?

I don't use USB for editing, so search http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US for a Microsoft article on how to "lock" the drive letter when you unplug/replug a USB drive

This Tips & Tricks article might be helpful, when editing to/from external HDD's: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5880839#5880839

It is likely that you have not assigned a fixed drive letter, for that external HDD, in the OS of your computer. That should fix things, when you do.
