Attempting to install latest flash on Mac OS X 10.6.8 fails, appending the following two lines to /var/log/install.log:

... installer[366]: JS: Flash Player Install: Performing volume check for /

... installer[366]: JS: Flash Player Install: Error: Non-OS Volume detected.

Also tried uninstall, which succeeds, but behavior on install is unchanged.

There is nothing unusual about the root partition (which is the only partition);

no dual-boot or other funkiness.

Are you installing from the installer or the Flash Player.pkg inside the installer?

I'm running 'Install Adobe Flash Player.app' located at the top level

of the Flash Player volume mounted by running the downloaded dmg.

Try right clicking the installer and "Show package contents"

Then double click the Adobe Flash Player.pkg inside Contents/Resources folder

Behavior is unchanged (except that it puts up a shell window to run the

command).

What format is your Mac HD?

(This is starting to look like a "Case Sensitive" problem)

We really need an Adobe developer to chime in with what, exactly, the

"volume check" is doing.

I should say that flash has been working on this computer for years;

now, since I did an uninstall in an attempt to correct the failed install,

it doesn't work. I am massively annoyed.
