What's the error message?
In any case, you need to show the import options to select the artboard, and mostlikely the error message is related to using a crop option that is not valid for the current file, so check that too. Crop options are sticky, and this happens a lot.
What do you mean crop options?
And the error message reads "This is an Adobe Illustrator File that was saved without PDF content. To place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "create pdf compitatable file" option turned on."
But the option is turned on.
If you show the import options you'll see a crop tab that allows you to specify which box to use for the size of the imported art. But that erro does not sound like it has anything to do with crop options, so I'd go back and do a save as to a new name and double check to be sure you have PDF compatible file selected in Illustrator.
You may have to reset the preferences of either InDesign or Illustrator. There could be corruption in either application:

Here are directions for Illustrator preferences:
Quit the application. Launch Illustrator and IMMEDIATELY hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Command + Option + Shift (Macintosh). You’ll receive no prompt, and the program will open as usual.
Alternatively, quit the program and search for the “Adobe Illustrator [version] Settings” folder and delete it. Insert the version (for example, CS5) in the search string.
