I am using a windown 7 operating syatem and Internet explorer 9.  I am trying to download flashplayer11 but half way through a window pops up telling me that a certain file can't be downloaded because the user does not have the authority.  I am using my personal laptop at home.  I am not hooked up to a network. What do I do?  Please help.

Are you logged-in as an Administrator user?  Try this: download the installer from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe and save it to disk, then close all browser windows, right-click on the downloaded installer and select Run as Administrator.

Download this file: Take ownership.zip

Unzip it, and double click the ".reg" file it contains.

Clikc "Yes" and "OK" to install it.

You will now be able to take "root level" ownership of ANY file or folder on your system.

Right click your C drive and select "Take Ownership".

A command prompt window will open as the new permissions are applied. (It takes a while to do the entire drive)

Once it's finished, you can modify or delete any file or folder on your system.
