Have you tuned your system?
Do you have any anti-virus running?
Is MPE running GPU asisted?
How much memory?
Hi Bill !
Ok, 16 gigs of ram
GPU ?? do you mean video card? (evga gtx 760 2gb)
I am not at that pc but I will check later. (it should be)
Anti virus, None installed but running win 8.1 (if that helps?)
1. How did you configure the Windows OS? see:
Blackvipers tutorials for configuring Windows systems to speed:
2. Is Windows 8 already fully compatible with the Adobe applications? (I thought it wasn't yet?)
3. How did you distribute the various computing processes over the various harddisks? See again at the Tweakerspage of PPBM7:
4. how are your in-application hardware, memory, cache, database etcetera settings of PPRO?
Just a few things that come to my mind in this regard.
Thanks guys for the replies,
Wow, I can't believe how complicated it is to have Premiere CC run smoothly using MXf files & a few effects?
If I'm not mistaken, I think I should be up to specs on the system (although perhaps not a "Monster" but up to specs)
Intel 6 core OC to 4.1
16 gigs ram 1866
X79 UP4 MB
3 drive Raid system (seagate constellation es.3) 9 TB Media RAID
2 drive Raid 2 TB PPRo Cache
GTX 760 2gb Video card
Laggy playback on timeline using:
MXF files with opacity fade & contrast effect.
I will look into those sites and try it out as soon as I have a minute.
Yes I am not an expert, but your hardware seems to be fine, it will probably be more likely to be connected somewhere to the OS / application configuration and how you distribute the various processes over the various harddrives maybe?
Ok, but does anyone know which componet is responsible for layers on the timeline?
I can edit all day long without ever hitting the preview render button. All my MXF clips play in real time with ease.
It's only when I take 2 clips/ overlap and do a cross fade between them , that's when I get drop frames.
So I'm thinking that when layers are added, one componet of mine is failing .
I always thought the video card was responsible for layering?
If so, so what...the gtx 760 2gb is not enough?
