    160 minutes of red 4k footage editing with premiere

      Hi,first of all my system config is

       

      i7 3930k

      gtx titan

      asus p9x79 pro

      32 gb of ram 1600

      2 tb sata 7200 rpm

      3 tb sata 7200 rpm

      hyper 212 evo cooler

      850 watts power supply

       

      i am editing a film in my system just started, it's about 2 and half hour of red 4k footage,my doubt is can i edit this much of footage with my system,give me some tips to do my heavy n big project without any problems(some like how to maintain proxies),thanks

          you might want to post this question at the red forum and search that forum for answers as well...re: using redcine X and proxies and workflow etc.

            Editing without any problems is not going to happen in real life. It's hard to guess, which advice to give, without knowing what you're doing exactly. More practical is to resolve a particular issue once you face it. Personally I wouldn't start with proxy on your spec. Decreasing playback resolution to 1/4 still gives you 1080, which is more than enough for motion check. Rendering preview for a piece of timeline with heavy effects serves as proxy. So, run some tests, and if you face or foresee a particular issue, describe your workflow and the issue as detailed as possible.

              I would add several more disks.

               

              C: System

              D: Projects

              E: Cache

              F: Media (Make this a RAID 3 using an Areca card)

              G: Exports

               

              This will keep the load spread out and give you a serious performance boost.
