Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller not working

I'm running Os X 10.6.8 with 2 x 2.26 Quad core Intel Xeon - 6GB DDR3 Ram and have repeatedly tried to update to the latest version of Flash Player Version 11.9.900.170

After downloading and opening up the dmg file, I run the installer, I agree to the License terms, click install, enter my password and hit OK.

Password window closes, nothing happens. No progress bar, nothing but the installer window with the terms checkbox and install or quit button.

If I click install again, same thing continues to happen.

I have shut down and restarted, downloaded again, etc and always the same result.

I tried running the uninstaller so I could perform a clean install, but the result is the same with the uninstaller.

Help please!

Download the offline installer: Flash Player (Mac OS X)

Mount the DMG and right click the installer. Choose "Show Package Contents"

In Contents/Resources double click the Adobe Flash Player.pkg

Let it run.

I've tried doing this, and while it ways it installed, it actually hasn't. So I went back in, uninstalled it to try it again, and now it's saying I cannot install it on my computer at all.

I followed the instructions above.

It went through the installation process and it said that it successfully installed, but even after a restart, flash is not playing and the flash status check page is saying flash is not installed on this system.

If yiu're using Safari, check the Preferences under Security to be sure "Allow Plugins" or "Allow all other plugins" is checked. If it is, Follow the illustrated instructions here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1343084 to do a complete clean install.

I followed the instructions, deleted all of the files, emptied the trash and ran the DMG.

I still had to view package contents in order to run the installer.

Said it was successful, but Flash is still not installed on Firefox or Safari.

Now when I do a spotlight search for Flash Player.plugin, the only result is "Flash player.plugin.izma"

Create a new (admin) user account and try the install.

If it works under another account, your account permissions are "pooched" and you'll need to repair them using Disk Utility.

Please do not install Flash Player from the file 'Adobe Flash Player.pkg' located in 'Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/Resources'. Not only does this not install Flash Player correctly, it is not supported.

Hello,

It could be a permissions issue as Mike mentions.

Please follow the instructions to perform a clean install as posted here. When finished, if the install is still unsucessful, please post the contents of the /Library/Logs/FlashPlayerInstallManager.log file for the last several install attempts.
