1. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
P Spier Jan 14, 2014 11:02 AM (in response to partridgberry)It's sticky, so change it, do an export, and it should stay there until you reset the prefs or change it again.

partridgberry Jan 14, 2014 11:10 AM (in response to P Spier)I wish this were the case! If it were, that would be great, but unfortunately, no matter how many times I export as PDF (print) it defaults to PDF (interactive)

P Spier Jan 14, 2014 11:16 AM (in response to partridgberry)Do other changes you make to your prefs stick? Does your open recent files list update when you close and reopen ID?

4. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
partridgberry Jan 14, 2014 11:20 AM (in response to P Spier)Your post got me to thinking, so I went to the "File > export" menu and exported a single file as a print .pdf that way, and the next time I exported from a book, it switched over! Eureeka! Thank you so much. Just exporting from the book would not stick, but using the file > export first once, did make it stick! Thank you!!!

5. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
partridgberry Jan 14, 2014 11:22 AM (in response to P Spier)but now that you mention it, my other preferences have not been sticking, for example I set it up as a preference that display performance be high quality, and it keeps defaulting to typical everytime I restart InDesign.... is there some other fix you were alluding to that might solve that?

6. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
P Spier Jan 14, 2014 11:32 AM (in response to partridgberry)Did you make the change in the prefs, or from the view menu? Setting it in the prefs should set it globally for any doc you open after.

7. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
partridgberry Jan 14, 2014 11:39 AM (in response to P Spier)Yes, I made it in the preferences. Doesn't seem to be sticking.... sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't... very frustrating! Thank you anyway-- I appreciate your help!

8. Re: Make Adobe PDF (Print) the default choice
P Spier Jan 14, 2014 11:51 AM (in response to partridgberry)Other than the inconvenience of having to reset things (and losing custom presets, if you have any), it won't hurt to try trashing the prefs and rebuilding them. See Replace Your Preferences which includes how to back up those custom presets for easy loading later.
