reauthorize my digital file to use on my laptop

I installed the Adobe digital edition on a training computer at my work and when I set it up to view a file I had in training the software would not allow me to login so I clicked on authorize this computer.  I was able to view the file on that computer just fine.  I need to be able to view my file (that is paid for by our company) on my laptop.

I need to relinquish the file from that computer in our training room so I can use it on my laptop.  I already installed Adobe digital edition onto my laptop and logged into it with the same username/password I used when signing up online.  I does not allow me to add the file to view on my laptop.

Please help me.

Did you authorize the first computer using that same username/password, or did you authorize it without ID?

If you authorized it with the same id it should work.

The most likely thing is that the authorization on the laptop semi-worked.

Try deauthorizing (ctrl-shift-D, cmd-shift-D on Mac) and reauthorizing.

If you authorized it without ID, you are a bit stuck, but ...

This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.

They do give very mild warnings, but not nearly strong enough.

When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).

Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.

Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.

When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.

Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.

The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.

I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.

However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,

such a measure is totally justifiable.
