Updating Flash on Mac OS9

The Flash updater requires that I "quit" the Dashboard Client, but that can't be done since Dashboard is an integral part of the Mac OS. Any workarounds?

Mac HD/Applications/Utiltites... Open the Activity Monitor

Find ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that says "Dashboard" and (one at a time), click the entry followed by a click of the Stop sign, to end the process.
