petergaraway Jan 30, 2014 11:10 AM (in response to JSS1138)Hello,
I'm sorry your experiencing this problem. Same question as Jim. Are you on Mac?
We are aware of the performance issues that were introduced in version 7.2 with certain AMD GPU cards.
We're investigating the problem now.
I know this is not ideal but in the mean time here's a few workarounds:
- Revert back to 7.1
- Disable GPU acceleration when using those effects
Here's a list of effects that seem most problematic:
*Fast Color Corrector
*RGB Curves
*ProcAmp
*Edge Feather
*Lumetri Looks
These effects do not appear hinder the performance in my testing:
*All Blurs Effects
*Three Way Color
*Crop
*Garbage Mattes
*Levels
Again, I apologies the the inconvenience.
Best,
Peter Garaway

R Neil Haugen Jan 30, 2014 11:48 AM (in response to petergaraway)Peter,
I searched for amd gpu stuff, didn't find a "recent" (last month or so) thread. Which amd cards are the ones that have the bigger issues? Do you have a list someplace?

5. Re: Color Key plus RGB curves slowing down computer
MM1811 Jan 30, 2014 12:12 PM (in response to MM1811)Thanks for the help. I can turn GPU off, I'm not reverting back to 7.1. To many projects I don't want to "hope" aren't effected. Adobe phone support was biggest help, guy took over my computer and reset Premiere by renaming Premiere Adobe preferences folder, which created new folder and basically reset Preimere. I lost a few saved preferences but it's working much faster.
On a Mac: on menu bar Go/ hold down control to make hidden icon Library appear/ preferences/ Adobe/ Premiere Pro/ 7.0
Rename 7.0 to 7.0_old and relaunch Premiere.
Advised not to do this too often but it did work. Same trick got Media Encoder back from 2 hour export to 5 minutes.
