3. Re: BUG: Medium-to-large projects make Edge Animate falter a lot
EvilGeniusCreative Jan 31, 2014 8:41 AM (in response to EvilGeniusCreative)Other issues I noticed that happen more as the project size and complexity increases:
- Modifications to an element state by attempting to change it in the timeline left-hand column (like in the pic here) tend to not actually work. I can, for example, change the opacity to 0 or 100, and it will say so there, but in the properties panel (and in actuality) the element property hasn't changed. I have to change it only in the properties panel to get results.
- Right-clicking in the same area to say, duplicate and element, doesn't work update the timeline left column or the Elements panel list. However, if I use the Edit menu Duplicate command or the ctrl-D, then the Elements panel and the timeline list both update showing all the times I've duplicated it. Maybe a refresh issue for these blocks?

EvilGeniusCreative Jan 31, 2014 12:26 PM (in response to elainecc)I finally figured out how to send a PM: "Send as E-mail." Way to be intuitive, copywriters!
You've been incredibly responsive, I've been very pleasantly surprised!

Hey, Ian-
I'm trying to reproduce what you've reported and I can't seem to do so. I'm playing around with the opacity as you reported. How long does it take you to get to this point, and does it happen every time you open this file? Does resetting your preferences fix anything for you?
Thanks,
-Elaine

9. Re: BUG: Medium-to-large projects make Edge Animate falter a lot
EvilGeniusCreative Feb 7, 2014 7:05 AM (in response to elainecc)I'll try resetting preferences.
This is just one of many issues that crop up with this file (and An in general) with anything but a small file size.
It doesn't just happen with opacity; I just used that as an example in the screenshot. It's all sorts of properties. The only fix I can find is closing the program and restarting.
And there are all kinds of latency issues that get in my way:
Moving the playhead, moving groups of properties, etc., etc. It can take up to a second or two to have the timeline show my dragging. It's drag-wait-wait-wait-drop.
Are there any known software incompatibility issues? There's plenty of memory and the computer is plenty good enough for running Flash and even Premier (though it isn't a video workstation). And I am running Windows 7, up to date.
Cheers,
Ian

1 person found this helpfulHi, Ian-
No, there aren't any incompatibility issues that we know of. Can you share your machine specs with us? We test on all of our supported OSes, but we could try to hunt down a computer that's similar in configuration to see if we can reproduce it.
Thanks,
-Elaine

EvilGeniusCreative Feb 10, 2014 10:55 AM (in response to elainecc)Hm. Maybe it's just mine, then.
It's a Toshiba Satellite L655-S5150
Model: PSK2CU-0K101S
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (so, I gues it's not updated-to-date)...
Intel Pentium p6200 @ 2.13 GHz 64-bit
8GB RAM
500GB WD hard drive

13. Re: BUG: Medium-to-large projects make Edge Animate falter a lot
EvilGeniusCreative Feb 18, 2014 7:22 AM (in response to EvilGeniusCreative)Still having all sorts of weird issues despite (now) being updated, etc., etc. For example -- elements not appearing in the timeline that are in the elements panel. They disappeared from the timeline display when I changed the background color of the element. This seems to be related to the previously mentioned issues with timeline refreshing. See image.

15. Re: BUG: Medium-to-large projects make Edge Animate falter a lot
drsqueegee Feb 18, 2014 1:23 PM (in response to heathrowe)Hi Ian,
I have suffered those same quirks, like edge being slow to respond and also the problem with renaming an element. I have noticed that after renaming an element the name will appear blank for a while if I use the return key to enter my change, but if I use the enter key on the num pad I do not suffer the same problem.
I have also noticed that in a large project edge performs much better if I am zoomed out on the animation timeline, so I only zoom in if I need to have a closer look at the transition.
I'm also running windows 7.

EvilGeniusCreative Feb 18, 2014 2:50 PM (in response to heathrowe)Yup, thanks. That's that problem for that one!
The other stuff mentioned above is still an issue. I know you folks are working on it, so keep up the good work. It keeps improving.
